When a Brisbane manufacturing business approached Open Electrical, their goal was simple: cut soaring energy costs without disrupting a busy production floor. After a detailed energy assessment, our team designed a 100kW rooftop solar system tailored to their daytime load profile.
The challenge
The site ran heavy machinery through the day, with peak demand landing squarely in daylight hours. That made it an ideal candidate for solar, but the roof space, structural loading and switchboard capacity all needed careful planning to get right.
Our solution
We installed 100kW of tier-one panels across two roof sections, paired with commercial-grade inverters and smart monitoring. The install was staged over a long weekend so production never stopped, and the system was commissioned and grid-connected within a fortnight.
The result
The business now generates the majority of its daytime electricity on site, cutting grid consumption by around 70% and putting the system on track to pay for itself in under four years. Ongoing monitoring means any dip in performance is flagged before it costs them a cent.
