Roofs, switchboards and timelines: 5 common installation questions

1. Will my roof handle solar?

Almost certainly. Tin and tile are both fine; what matters is age and condition. If a roof is due for replacement in the next few years, do that first, because removing and reinstalling panels later costs more than waiting.

2. Do I need a switchboard upgrade?

Older boards with ceramic fuses or no safety switches usually need upgrading before solar or a battery can be connected. We check this during the site assessment so it never surprises you on installation day.

3. How long does installation take?

A straightforward solar system is one day. Solar plus battery is typically one to two days. Network approval happens before we start, and meter reconfiguration follows shortly after.

4. Will the power be off?

Briefly, while we connect at the switchboard, usually under an hour. We’ll let you know before it happens.

5. What maintenance does a system need?

Very little. Panels self-clean in Queensland rain unless they’re at a very shallow pitch, and inverters and batteries are monitored remotely. We recommend a periodic electrical inspection, and the monitoring app will flag anything unusual between visits.
