Queensland Sports Club Solar and Battery Grants Up to $100k
July 8, 2026

If your sporting club has been considering solar, battery storage or energy efficiency upgrades, now could be the perfect time to act.

The Australian Government's Sports Clubs Energy & Climate Upgrades Grant, part of the Game On: Teaming Up for Climate Action program, provides eligible community sporting clubs with funding between $25,000 and $100,000 to help reduce operating costs and invest in long-term energy improvements.

For sporting clubs across Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Ipswich and throughout South East Queensland, this funding presents a valuable opportunity to invest in commercial solar and battery storage while significantly reducing upfront costs.

As a proud family-owned and operated South East Queensland business, Open Electrical has been helping homes, businesses and organisations transition to smarter energy solutions since 2013. We understand the energy challenges faced by local sporting clubs and design premium commercial solar and battery solutions tailored to each facility's energy usage and long-term goals.

What Is the Sports Clubs Energy & Climate Upgrades Grant?

The Sports Clubs Energy & Climate Upgrades Grant provides eligible community sporting clubs with funding to improve their facilities through energy-saving and climate resilience projects. The program is designed to help clubs reduce electricity costs, improve energy efficiency, lower long-term operating expenses, build more resilient sporting facilities and reinvest savings back into their members and community.

Across Australia, the program aims to support hundreds of community sporting clubs looking to future-proof their facilities while lowering ongoing energy costs.

How Much Funding Is Available?

Eligible sporting clubs can apply for grants between $25,000 and $100,000. Eligible applicants may receive funding covering up to 100% of eligible project costs, subject to the program guidelines and assessment criteria.

Round One applications close on 28 July 2026, however funding is limited and applications may close earlier if all available funding has been allocated.

What Can the Grant Be Used For?

Depending on your club's needs, funding may be available for commercial solar systems, battery energy storage, energy-efficient upgrades, climate resilience improvements, drainage upgrades and shade infrastructure.

For many sporting clubs, investing in commercial solar and battery storage offers one of the greatest long-term financial benefits by reducing electricity costs year after year.

Why More Sporting Clubs Are Choosing Solar & Battery Storage

Running a sporting club isn't cheap. From clubhouse lighting and refrigeration to canteens, scoreboards, field lighting and air conditioning, electricity costs can quickly become one of a club's largest ongoing expenses.

Installing a commercial solar system allows clubs to generate their own electricity during the day, while battery storage enables excess solar energy to be stored and used during evening training sessions, weekend games and periods of peak electricity demand.

The result is lower electricity bills, reduced reliance on the grid, greater energy independence and more money available for facilities, equipment and junior programs. Where suitable, battery storage can also provide backup power during outages.

Why Choose Open Electrical?

Since 2013, Open Electrical has completed more than 5,000 installations across Queensland helping homeowners, businesses and organisations transition to smarter energy solutions.

As a family owned and operated business, we're proud to deliver premium commercial solar and battery systems backed by our experienced in-house electricians never subcontractors.

Our commercial team works with organisations throughout Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Ipswich and across South East Queensland, using trusted brands including Sigenergy, GoodWe, Fronius, Tesla and BYD.

Whether you're planning a commercial solar installation or exploring battery storage for your sporting club, we'll design a solution tailored to your facility, energy usage and long term goals. We can also provide a tailored commercial proposal, typically within one business hour during business hours, helping your club move quickly while applications remain open.

Why Start Planning Now?

Although applications close on 28 July 2026, preparing a commercial solar and battery project takes time. Starting early gives your club the opportunity to assess its current energy usage, determine the right system size, receive a tailored proposal and gather the technical information needed to support its application.

Beginning the process now means you'll be better prepared before applications close or available funding is exhausted.

Is Your Sporting Club Eligible?

The Sports Clubs Energy & Climate Upgrades Grant is available to eligible community sporting organisations across Australia.

If your club is located in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich or anywhere across South East Queensland, now is the ideal time to start planning your project.

Even if you're unsure whether commercial solar or battery storage is the right fit, speaking with an experienced commercial energy specialist early can help you understand your options and prepare for the application process.

How Open Electrical Can Help

While Open Electrical does not prepare or submit grant applications, we can support your project by providing a commercial site assessment, energy usage analysis, system recommendations, a tailored commercial solar and battery proposal, technical information to support your application and professional installation if funding is approved.

Our goal is to make the technical side of your project straightforward, so your club can make informed decisions with confidence.

Don't Miss the Opportunity
