Why install an EV charger at home?
A dedicated home charger is faster, safer and cheaper to run than a wall socket, especially when it charges from your own solar.
Every EV can trickle-charge from a normal power point, so why fit a dedicated charger? Speed, safety and solar integration.
Speed
A standard socket delivers about 10 km of range per hour. A 7 kW home charger delivers 40–50 km per hour, meaning any commute recovers overnight with room to spare.
Safety
EV charging is a sustained high-current load that ordinary sockets and circuits were never designed to carry for hours at a time. A dedicated charger runs on its own protected circuit, installed and tested by a licensed electrician.
Charging from solar
Smart chargers can follow your solar production, ramping up when the sun is generating excess and easing off when clouds roll over. Charging from your own roof costs a fraction of public fast charging, and effectively fuels the car for free once the solar system has paid for itself.
What installation involves
We check your switchboard capacity, run a dedicated circuit to the parking spot, and configure the charger’s solar and scheduling features. Most installations are done in half a day.
